Week 8 : Creating online/offline resources and online class.

I was in dilemma this week! On our nicenet class discussion, I didn’t know what to post and where to post; both the task seemed similar to me.
As instructed I succeeded in downloading four important software for developing teaching resources; 1. The popular HotPotatoes, 2. SightWords sentence builders, 3. Question Writer and 4. Teacher’s Pet.
These tools are relevant and appropriate for my situation. Teaching resources are integral components in any classroom. The many benefits of teaching resources include helping learners improve reading comprehension skills, illustrating or reinforcing a skill or concept, differentiating instruction and relieving anxiety or boredom by presenting information in a new and exciting way.
It is important to understand and articulate what effective teachers do, and therefore what may be missing among other teachers in terms of professional skills, knowledge or values. In this regard, good teaching and learning takes place when teachers are prepared with varieties of resource/ teaching aids.
With the advantage of software for developing teaching resources that I have. I will be installing all the software in computers we have in our school, request teachers to develop their own worksheet, implement and get their feedback on practical uses of those tools.

Thanks

  1. Hi Jigme!
I totally agree with you on the fact that online exercise generators are of great help to both the learner and the teacher specially in a blended classroom. They are supposed to substitute our old hand made tasks, but I think that they can't displace our art of active creation. You are one of the most creative teachers because you are trying to bring somthing new for your students and for us!
    Best regards!

  2. Hello Jigme.

Once again, it is so great to see how dedicated you are as a school principal. The idea to install the software you learned about and then ask your colleagues to try them out in order to provide feedback is so practical. First of all, they will be introduced to them and see if they suit their needs and, secondly, they will, by reporting about them, develop a critical attitude to innovations and be able to make a difference between what is functional and purposeful and what is not.

    Keep up your excellent work.

  3. Hi Jigme and Khaled,

I agree with you on the fact that online exercise generators are of great help to both the pupils and the teacher specially in a blended classroom. There is always something new to learn. This week has been spectacular just like the others. Knowing about all the useful tools ANVILL offers has been heartwarming because I know we as teachers have lots of resources to work with for changing the way we used to teach. The most I like about ANVILL is the idea of recording voices, so we can give feedback and students love the idea.

    Great week, isn´t it?
